Ram Jam was a hard rock band that lasted a little more than a year between 1977 and 1978, but scored a hit with a cover version of an old blues dittie called Black Betty. Bill Bartlett sang on the debut, and the hit single, before Myke Scavone, was introduced as the lead vocalist.
The Lemon Pipers comprised drummer William (Bill) E. Albaugh (1946–1999), guitarist Bill Bartlett (born 1946), vocalist Dale "Ivan" Browne (born 1947), keyboardist Robert G. Nave (1944–2020), and bassist Steve Walmsley (born 1948), who replaced the original bass guitarist Bob "Dude" Dudek.
Bartlett was formerly lead guitarist for bubblegum group the Lemon Pipers, while Blauvelt played with Billy Joel in several bands: the Echoes (also renamed the Lost Souls and then the Commandos), the Hassles and El Primo. The band was originally known as 'Creekside Killshack'.
