  5. The Board of Psychology traces its history back to 1951, when the legislature created the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (Laws of Minnesota 1951, chapter 672). At that time, the board consisted of seven resident psychologists appointed by the governor.

  6. The Minnesota Board of Psychology (the Board) administers psychology licenses in the state. To help you navigate this process, we’ve prepared this guide with step-by-step instructions on becoming a licensed psychologist in Minnesota.

  7. The following options are the different ways a psychologist may become licensed to practice psychology in Minnesota. Please note that for LP, Reciprocity, or Mobility you don’t have to “pick” which way you want to apply for licensure.
