The Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) is the world’s largest mammal that lives in a tree and is also one of the world’s greatest apes. Together with the Sumatran orangutan and Tapanuli orangutan, it belongs to the only genus of great apes native to Asia.
Bornean orangutans aren’t small animals. In fact, they’re the largest tree-dwelling mammals on Earth. When standing upright, fully grown adult males measure about 97 centimeters (3.2 feet) tall and weigh 60 to 90 kilograms (132 to nearly 200 pounds).

The Bornean Orangutan (also known as Bornean Orang-utan) is a small to average size hominid that is spread across the jungles of Borneo. Orangutans, the world’s largest tree-dwelling mammals in the world, are found on only two islands in the world – Borneo and Sumatra.
There are 3 species of orangutan. The Bornean, the Sumatran and the recently confirmed new species (as of 2017), the Tapanuli. These great apes are only found in the wild on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. All three orangutan species are critically endangered.
