  5. Fuel-Supply Pump. At the driveshaft end of the injection pump is a positive displacement, vane-type fuel-supply pump, Figure 3. It (sometimes with an additional outside-supply pump) is used to bring fuel from the tank and send pressurized fuel to the distributor plunger and the injection timing advance mechanism.
