14 Σεπ 2017 · I am starting my build log for the Model Shipways Niagara. Although not new to model ship building, this will be my 2nd foray into wood. I recently finished the 18th Century Long Boat and learned so much, that I feel confident in moving to a larger ship. I am very slow and methodical when it comes to building.

With regard to the other two boats, I have instructions from Hubert Sicard's site (Wooden Ship Modeling for Dummies) for building them using a frame-on-bulkhead approach which appears very similar to that used for the seine ...
Here is a downloadable scan of an official US Navy outboard profile drawing of the 20-gun brig USS Niagara 1813. The drawing's authorship and age are uncertain, perhaps drawn as part of her first, centennial restoration in 1913.

7 Νοε 2014 · A commission for a model of the Great Lakes brig USS Niagara of 1813 is well on the way. She has been pieced together from contemporary vessels, the centennial replica of 1913 and the current re-designed full size replica.
