When you move home, it’s important to read your gas and electricity meters as soon as you move in and give the readings to the current energy supplier. This makes sure you only pay for the energy you’ve used.
The quickest way to give a meter read is online or via our app. If you want to give a meter read via the phone you can use our automated service, you’ll just need your customer account number and meter reads to hand. If your customer account number starts with an A or BGX then call 0330 054 5340.
20 Δεκ 2022 · How to submit your first British Gas meter reading. The first thing you should do with your energy supply when you move in is to take a meter reading. This makes sure that you’re only paying for energy you’ve used and aren’t paying for the previous occupier’s usage.
4 Ιουλ 2024 · On the day you move into your new property, take initial meter readings for gas and electricity. This will ensure accurate billing from your new supplier and help avoid any potential disputes later down the line.
We'll send you a final bill within 16 working days of your move and take the final balance by Direct Debit. Once the final bill has been paid, we'll either move the Direct Debit to your new property or cancel it.
