What is trachyonychia? Trachyonychia is characterised by brittle nails that show diffuse longitudinal ridging and can be accompanied by pitting, loss of lustre, or a roughened nail plate. Trachyonychia, also known as ‘rough nails’ or ‘sandpaper nails’, can involve any number of nails.
