8 Ιουν 2024 · Bruce Weber, born in rural Greensburg, Pennsylvania in 1946, became the preeminent photographer of the fashion industry in the 1980s and continues to be one of the world’s most popular and influential photographers.
Some of Weber's earliest fashion photography appeared in the SoHo Weekly News and featured a spread of men wearing only underwear. The photos became the center of controversy and Weber was told by some that he would never find work as a fashion photographer again.
Bruce’s photo of the pole-vaulter Tom Hintnaus in Calvin Klein underwear caused a sensation when it was placed in Times Square in August 1982. Bruce developed an intuitive sense of how to best translate the feeling behind Calvin’s clothes into visual imagery.
