12 Μαΐ 2019 · You beat me to it! I agree with most of what you posted with the exception of limiting 123 to spot priming. I trust 123 as a full bare drywall primer even when I don't use a PVA sealer as a first coat treatment. 123 also provides a decent sheen holdout for top coats.

Their Bulls Eye 1-2-3 has a strong, well-deserved reputation which was garnered from the product’s performance. The B-I-N Shellac-Based primer from Zinsser is quite good at blocking odors created by pets, tobacco, and smoke. In contrast, the Original Primer and Adhesion Primer from Kilz are well-suited for surfaces that are difficult to paint.
Bulls Eye® 1-2-3 is great for blocking stains. It permanently and completely seals graffiti, grease spots, tar and asphalt – inside and out. It is rust inhibitive and ideal for new metal. It resists flash rusting in its 'wet' state and provides rust resistance for the life of the coating.
