1 Φεβ 2018 · Pros: A compact, ergonomic full-featured radio which sports SSB mode, AIR band, external antenna jack, reasonable audio from internal speaker, very good shortwave and mediumwave performance for the size. No muting between frequencies.
13 Δεκ 2022 · The CC Skywave SSB is the most comprehensive compact portable I own. It’s truly a “Swiss Army Knife” of a receiver. Here are the bands/features I appreciate: AM/Mediumwave (9/10 kHz steps selectable) FM broadcast (with expanded FM range when in 9 kHz step mode) Shortwave. AIR band (to listen to Air Traffic Control and Air comms)
For the money, the Crane Skywave SSB is lacking, though to my ears, it is the better radio. You can buy three Tecsun radios for the price of the Skywave. But the Crane is easier to navigate, has nicer feeling buttons, and seems quieter on AM broadcast bands.
13 Δεκ 2014 · The PL-660, a great radio, soft muting acts on signals that read below S2 on its S-meter. The difference being that PL-660 does not have DSP. So it is no surprise the C. Crane CC Skywave performs better, specially on medium wave.
17 Ιαν 2022 · The C. Crane Skywave SSB is an advanced version of the C. Crane Skywave. The major difference is the SSB can decode single sideband transmissions sent by ham radio operators working in the HF bands. Tuning into ham frequencies is trickier than regular shortwave frequencies and requires some ham radio knowledge.
