Moderate hyperthermia for 30 min or short bursts of thermal ablation can inhibit cancer cell invasiveness and kill cancer stem cells. Conversely, these same thermal doses have also shown to accelerate cancer metastasis in rare cases.
This review shows that HT is an effective inducer of apoptosis. Moreover, the limitations of HT may be overcome using combined therapy with anti-cancer drugs or natural products. Therefore, appropriate combinations of such agents with HT will exert maximal effects to treat cancer.
18 Οκτ 2018 · Hyperthermia: Why Heat Can Make Cancer Treatments More Potent. Combining heat with chemo or radiation can shrink tumors. Heat can be an incredibly simple, yet powerful, way to boost the effects of ...
The therapeutic application of heat is very effective in cancer treatment. Both hyperthermia, i.e. heating to 39–45°C to induce sensitization to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and thermal ablation, where temperatures beyond 50°C destroy tumor cells directly are frequently applied in the clinic.
25 Ιουλ 2024 · Medications for common conditions can increase patients' sensitivity to heat by impairing the body's response to high temperatures, including the ability to sweat and the rate...
5 Ιαν 2023 · A well-controlled increase in temperature can support the treatment of various diseases, including cancer 49,50,51. Over the past few decades, substantial progress has been made in...
1 Δεκ 2016 · Hyperthermia may make some of the tumor cells more prone to radiations or damage other cancer cells which cannot be damaged by radiation. Many times, it also increases the effects of certain anticancer agents. In this study, we would focus on use of heat to treat cancer.
