The Sims 2 is no longer available digitally through Origin for purchase- if you do not already own The Ultimate Collection in Origin, the only way to play is through the disk version.
There is no legal way to digitally purchase the Sims 2. It is considered abandonware, and thus the ethics of downloading are murky. But that said, the game is amazing, and EA would be making buckets if they just released it. Now, I do suggest you use a VPN and a trusted source to get the game.
If you buy copies from eBay it will either be an Origin account, and buying them is against EA's Terms of Service and if they find out they will disable that account and any other account you may have with them.
It's not possible to buy a digital version of the Sims 2 and we don't recommend buying the discs for the reasons outlined in the wiki.

Check both sites for the best price, as it varies depending on what’s currently available. For the best deal, look for bundled editions like Double Deluxe and then purchase other must-have expansions separately.
To be honest, I checked on this issue as many people are still wanting a copy of Sims 2 digitally. Unfortunately, the only way to obtain a copy at all for the Windows OS is buying used copies of the CD/DVDs on Amazon.
The only supported digital versions of Sims 2 available right now are Sims 2 Ultimate Collection from Origin (which is no longer being given out, and you can only hope they will again in the future) and Sims 2 Super Collection from the Apple Store (which does not have all the EP's and SP's).
