In its natural setting, the palm will grow to about 18–20 m in height, with a crown diameter of 10–12 m, made up of in excess of 200 arching, pinnate fronds. Unless affected by disease or pests, the plant can live for 200–300 years (Beech 2017). Fully mature palms weigh up to 10 tons in mass.
