The method has already been applied successfully for radial/ulnar fractures in 14 dogs (9 of 14 had distal diaphyseal fractures) and in 8 cats (Wanivenhaus 2001, Graf 2003, Behrend 2007). Fifty of 51 diaphyseal fractures of various bones have been successfully repaired in cats and several dog breeds .
18 Ιουλ 2016 · Proximally, the radius articulates with the ulna along its caudal border, which rests within a corresponding concavity in the ulna called the radial notch. Distally, the ulna similarly articulates with the radius along its medial cortex, where it rests within the ulnar notch.
Cause: fractures of the canine radius and ulna occur predominantly as a result of major trauma, usually a road traffic accident, sometimes a fall from a height. Rarely they can occur as a result of a bite or a gunshot injury.
Divergent elbow dislocation is defined as an elbow luxation in which the distal humerus is forced between the proximal radius and ulna, resulting in separation or divergence of the proximal antebrachial bones.1 The elbow joint can be divided into three synovial joints: humeroradial, humeroulnar, and proximal radioulnar.
Fractures of the distal radius and ulna are common, especially in small and toy breed dogs. Result from falls and road accidents. Even something as simple as jumping from the owner's arms can result in these fractures.
