Carter House is one of the oldest homes in Bermuda built in 1640 by the descendants of Christopher Carter. So who was Carter? George Somers was the first who started the British colonization in Bermuda in 1610.
The house is a classic early Bermuda vernacular structure and certainly in a beautiful setting. It houses a museum exhibiting the history, people and culture of the unique St Davids islanders. It has the best exhibit of Palmetto products in Bermuda (a dying art) as well as 18th century tools.

The house is one of the oldest surviving on the island and It has a wide collection of artefacts from the island's past. There is an interesting display about a way life lost when the US military airfield, now the airport, was built in 1941.
