Bose's most affordable tower speaker, the 601 Series IV, will fill your room with warm, spacious sound. Proprietary Bose technology allows these speakers to deliver a blend of reflected and direct sound that makes movie soundtracks and your favorite CDs jump to life across a wide, realistic soundstage.
The 601 Series III's are a great speaker, even when compared to the other speakers I own, over 100! Certain speakers are better at certain types of music than others. My a/d/s/ L1290's, Carver AL-III's, Polk SDA1's & Polk Monitor 10's are so smooth when listening to jazz.
As far as I can tell- no serious degradation in speakers or crossover. When they finally give it up, I'll rebuild them. The enclosures are sonic genius- the components not quite as much- but still very good. 18 people liked this review.
9 Νοε 2011 · Here, from two different magazines, are frequency response curves for the Bose 601 Series II and the Series III. Observe that off-axis, the sound is almost the same as on-axis, indicating excellent dispersion.
I am genuinely curious if the 601 Series IV rises above the usual modus operandum of Bose with accentuated mid bass and bright tweeters and more money in marketing than materials. I did hear them when he had them running in his condo in Florida and they sounded "OK".
Tweeter: 4 x 3" cones. Enclosure: bass reflex. Finish: walnut grain vinyl. Dimensions: 29.5 x 14 x 13 inches. Weight: 36lbs. Price: USD $890 (1982) Year: 1982. Downloads
I have a pair of Bose 601 which I believe are the covetted series One from 1978 which some claim are the best Bose 601s ever made. I have refoamed them with Bose brand foams and they sound better than my Kenwoods which are almost twice the size.
