24 Φεβ 2014 · The occipito-posterior (OP) fetal head position during the first stage of labour occurs in 10-34% of cephalic presentations. Most will spontaneous rotate in anterior position before delivery, but 5-8% of all births will persist in OP position for the third stage of labour.
26 Ιουν 2024 · Occiput posterior (OP) position is the most common fetal malposition. It is important because it is associated with labor abnormalities that may lead to adverse maternal and neonatal consequences, particularly forceps- or vacuum-assisted vaginal birth or cesarean birth.
Background: The fetal occiput posterior position poses challenges in every aspect of intrapartum care-prevention, diagnosis, correction, supportive care, labor management, and delivery. Maternal and newborn outcomes are often worse and both physical and psychological traumas are more common than with fetal occiput anterior positions.
24 Ιαν 2016 · At the onset of labour, an occiput posterior (OP) position occurs in approximately 25% of fetuses in the cephalic position.1, 2, 3, 4 Persistent OP at delivery occurs in approximately 10% of fetuses.5, 6 Previous studies have shown an increase in short‐term and long‐term maternal and fetal complications that are associated with the OP ...
2 Αυγ 2023 · Occipito posterior position though common, rotates spontaneously in active labour and second stage of labour. Watchful expectancy, foeto-maternal monitoring and labour analgesia improve vaginal births.
24 Φεβ 2010 · Abstract: Background: The fetal occiput posterior position poses challenges in every aspect of intrapartum care—prevention, diagnosis, correction, supportive care, labor management, and delivery. Maternal and newborn outcomes are often worse and both physical and psychological traumas are more common than with fetal occiput anterior positions.
A highest incidence of occipito-posterior fetal head position may depend by nulliparity, malnutrition with pelvic deformity, pelvic immaturity in the teenager and anterior placenta. Epidural analgesia is a risk factor for fetal head malposition.
