I found i loved it so much i would break into the industry and I now climb, build, repair & maintain these towers for a living. The purpose of this post is for everyones safety and to help the community understand the risks involved when climbing cellphone towers specifically.
I read the wiki and found this cell tower on cellmapper, looking for advice from someone who's climbed this type of tower before. safe to climb? gloves or no gloves? what to look out for, etc. will be my first time climbing a cell tower.
After tons of searching and trying on maybe 15 different boots, I decided on the Thorogood 804. The internet seems to think I made a good choice. Lineman's boots have a long metal shank (and a breastplate in some cases) to spread the pressure out on your foot, when standing on ladder rungs or worse.
