The answer is yes, there is an xfinity stream app available for fire tv stick. You will lose many features of having a box including live rewind etc...but you can still record. I use it on our wifi only connected tvs and the picture is crystal clear and a great way to stream tv.

After that, power it back on, download the app again, and see if you are able to access the newest firmware version.
