The Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) is the most frequently used VA education benefit. It provides up to 36 months of benefits to help pay for school or job training for Veterans, service members, survivors and dependents. Your Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits may include financial support for school tuition, fees, books, supplies, and housing.
The Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) may help you pay for school or job training. If you’ve served on active duty after Sept. 10, 2001, you may qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33). Through the Post-9/11 GI Bill, you may be able to get 48 months of VA education benefits.
Chapter 33 benefits can be paid for training pursued on or after August 1, 2009. No. payments may be made for training pursued before that date. All programs approved under MGIB and offered at an IHL.
You may be eligible for several types of VA education and training benefits, but there are many things to consider before you apply for a GI Bill program. For most participants, the Post-9/11 GI Bill is the best option. Other students would benefit more from the Montgomery GI Bill.
