Chemotherapy (often called "chemo") is treatment with medicines that kill or stop the growth of cancer cells. Standard chemotherapy drugs are different from a class of drugs called targeted therapy. Targeted therapy drugs can precisely target the cancer cells while causing less damage to normal cells and tissues.
Chemotherapy (chemo) is the use of medicines to treat cancer. Chemo may cure or control the spread of or relieve symptoms from cancer. It kills or slows the growth of the primary cancer. It also works in the body against cancer cells that have spread (metastasized) from the primary location of the cancer.
