Coso Rock Art District is a rock art site containing over 100,000 Petroglyphs by Paleo-Indians and/or Native Americans. [1] . The district is located near the towns of China Lake and Ridgecrest, California. Big and Little Petroglyph Canyons were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1964.

The largest concentration of petroglyphs are located within the Coso Petroglyph National Historic Park on the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, or NAWS. The Navy allows the public to visit those petroglyphs that are located in Little Petroglyph Canyon (also known as Renegade Canyon) on a limited basis.
To visit Little Petroglyph Canyon, you need to go through the Maturango Museum which is located in Ridgecrest, California. To arrange a guided tour of the Coso Rock Art District located on China Lake Naval Weapons Station, you will need to call the museum to secure a reservation, pay a small fee and go through a written security questionnaire.
