How to Get There. Although Lake Biwa is in Shiga Prefecture , it takes just 10 minutes to get there from Kyoto Station to Otsu Station. There are also direct links from Kansai International Airport and Nagoya.
14 Μαΐ 2024 · The center of Lake Biwa is about 50 km (or 30 miles) from Kyoto as the crow flies, but of course that’s not how you’re going to be getting there. Depending on where you visit, you can reach Lake Biwa in around an hour (or less) from Kyoto Station, via either the JR Kosei or Biwako Lines, both of which are fully covered by the JR Pass .

How to Get There. Lake Biwa is easily accessed from Kyoto. The JR Tokaido Line from Kyoto to Otsu takes just 10 minutes. Island hopping and cruising. Okishima is the only inhabited island in the lake. Most locals are involved in fishing. Ferries depart from Horikiri Port. Biwako Cruise offers several courses around the south end of the lake.
26 Σεπ 2024 · From Kyoto. Take the JR Biwako Line from Kyoto Station to Otsu Station, which takes about 10 minutes, then a 10-minute walk to the expansive Lake Biwa. Alternatively, you can take the JR Kosei Line from Kyoto Station to Otsukyo Station, followed by a 10-minute walk to Lake Biwa.
