Wild Animals in Houston. The entire State of Texas has an abundant wild animal population and Houston is no exception. In fact, Houston, with its many miles of bayous and lush outdoors actually fosters one of the most populated and diverse wild animal ecosystems in the state.
BARC will respond to service requests where there is a possibility of a rabies exposure, a wild animal inside a living room or bedroom, or there is an animal in a humane trap that is considered a high risk for carrying rabies, such as skunks, foxes, coyotes or raccoons.
Call Houston Police Animal Control at 713.884.3131 to report animal abuse, fighting or other mistreatment and/or animals in distress. If you have a wild animal or reptile in your yard, in the vicinity of your home or where you are: It is not necessary to call.
Submit all paperwork in person to the BARC Animal Shelter: 3200 Carr Street Houston, TX 77026 Permit will be issued once all is completed.
Wildlife Diversity Permits. Permits are required to possess, display, care for, propagate, collect, transport or sell protected wildlife species.
