22 Ιουν 2021 · This chapter introduces two core theories about how cities are governed, urban regime theory and urban governance theory. These model how government partners with non-governmental actors to determine and implement policies.
They re-examine prominent economic and political explanations of urban development and aim to achieve a structure-agency synthesis in relation to the position of the city in the wider political-economic system.
Wolman (2012, 145) defines urban policies as policies generated and implemented by city governments through local political processes (i.e., distinguishing them from policies that originate at the federal or national level but that affect or are directed at cities).
