Chapter 301 of the Texas Occupations Code (TOC) contains the Nursing Practice Act (NPA) which creates the BON and defines its responsibility for regulating nursing education, licensure and practice. Chapter 303 relates to Nursing Peer Review and Chapter 304 relates to the Nurse Licensure Compact.
These guidelines are intended to comply with the requirement set forth in Texas Health and Safety Code, §481.0762(a) and to aid APRNs who prescribe opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and carisoprodol (Soma).
If a nurse chooses to achieve, maintain, or renewal a national nursing certification to meet the Board’s continuing competency requirements in lieu of completing 20 contact hours of CNE, the certification must be in the nurse’s area of practice and approved by the Board.
14 Ιουλ 2023 · For nurses seeking to practice in Texas, the Texas BON requires them to know the laws guiding the practice of nursing in Texas as defined in Chapters 301 (the Nursing Practice Act, NPA), 303 (Nursing Peer Review), and 304 (the Nurse Licensure Compact, NLC) of the Texas Occupations Code.
Comply with the criminal background check requirement. Register for, take, and pass the NJE. Request that all of the boards of nursing from which the individual holds licenses provide verification of licensure to the Texas BON. Provide the Texas BON with any other information it requires.
This course fulfills the continuing education requirement on the laws, rules, and ethics related to the practice of nursing in Texas for all levels of nursing, including registered nurse (RN), licensed vocational nurse (LVN), registered nurse first assistant (RNFA), and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).
This module aims to satisfy the requirements of the Texas Nursing Practice Act (NPA) by increasing understanding of nursing jurisprudence and ethics through the study of the current text of the Texas Board of Nursing Administration Code Chapters 301, 303, and 304 of the Texas Occupations Code.
