Fire Extinguisher Program. The Office of the State Fire Marshal's (OSFM), is the licensing and certification authority for portable fire extinguishers that are serviced and sold in California. This program also ensures that the California Standards are met for these life saving devices.

31 Μαρ 2021 · Section 5.5.5.3 of NFPA 10-2010 says the placard is to be placed over Class K extinguishers only. Annex section A.5.5.5.3 has a description of what the placard must say.
The new class “K” rated fire extinguishers are much better suited to properly handle and address the special cooking appliance fire hazards found in commercial kitchens.
Fire extinguishers shall be manually inspected when initially placed in service. Fire extinguishers shall be manually inspected at least monthly by the building owner, occupant, or his/her authorized agent or electronically monitored.
Class K-Extinguisher - When hazard areas include deep fat fryers, listed Class K Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided in accordance with Title 19 California Code of Regulations, Chapter 3 per the CFC 2022 Section 906.4.
