The problem is that it’s destructive to the clear coat — you’re literally sanding down the factory-applied protection to level out scratches and imperfections.
My biggest problem with coatings isn't the coatings but the manufacturers. People are applying coatings to protect their clear coats because the thickness and quality of the paint being applied by manufacturers is at an all-time low.
