30 Αυγ 2020 · The first pitch rock climbing Mt. Whitney via the East Face is the Tower Traverse. This exhilarating start to the route entails traversing a ledge that leads to a small corner/chimney system, which is ascended for about 25 feet to the first belay station.
Mt. Whitney has two fantastic and classic alpine rock climbs up its East Face. The classic East Face route (5.7) and the sustained East Buttress Route (5.7). While different in character both are excellent climbs that end right on the summit of Mount Whitney.
