The Catholic funeral liturgy provides comfort and consolation to mourning the death of one they have loved. We invite and encourage you to take an active part in this celebration by planning your loved one’s Mass of Christian Burial. Funeral Service – Two Readings. If two readings are being used one will always be from the Old Testament and one. from the Gospels. The priest/deacon will always read the Gospel. Consider: Instead of the Responsorial Psalm you may choose to sing the hymn “The Lord’s my Shepherd”.
