With one or two modifications, this can also be used on the Cobra 148GTL, and/or the Uniden Grant XL. No it does not affect SSB, it is strictly AM. Note: The best Cobra 148GTL models to get are made from 1981 on in Taiwan or the Philippines.

4 Αυγ 2015 · I've had my 148 GTL modified by Black Spirit, as per above post. That gives me mids, high and the UK 40. Added FM too. There's various different add on boards available to expand the 148, such as Channel King and DigiMax. Lescomm do several expansion boards but all quite expensive. For me, Nick's PIC chip was easy and inexpensive.
4 Δεκ 2010 · The mk2 148 that I've owned for 30yrs has about 26-30MHz coverage and I did various mods to the receiver back in the early 1980s to get a broader response to stop it going deaf at the extreme ends of the 4MHz range.
