23 Σεπ 2023 · The cochlear nerve, also known as the auditory nerve, is one of the two main components of the vestibulocochlear nerve (cranial nerve VIII). Its primary function is to transmit auditory information from the cochlea to the auditory centers in the brain.
19 Οκτ 2024 · The cochlear nerve, also known as the acoustic or auditory nerve, is the cranial nerve responsible for hearing. It travels from the cochlea in the inner ear to the brainstem as part of the eighth cranial nerve.
17 Ιουλ 2023 · The cochlear nerve, also known as the acoustic nerve, is the sensory nerve that transfers auditory information from the cochlea (auditory area of the inner ear) to the brain.
The cochlear nerve (also auditory nerve or acoustic nerve) is one of two parts of the vestibulocochlear nerve, a cranial nerve present in amniotes, the other part being the vestibular nerve. The cochlear nerve carries auditory sensory information from the cochlea of the inner ear directly to the brain .
The cochlear nerve is the sensory nerve responsible for hearing. It conveys special sense afferent fibers from the spiral organ of Corti to the cochlear nuclei within the pons and medulla of the brain. The cochlear nerve is comprised of 30,000–40,000 afferent and efferent somatic nerve fibers.
The cochlear nerve enters the brainstem caudal to the vestibular nerve and synapses at the second order neurons within the cochlear nucleus. The fibers either ascend or descend as they enter the cochlear nucleus.
