Incorporating computer simulations into the classroom has been shown to improve students' learning outcomes and provide educators with valuable tools to promote scientific inquiry among students.
Computer simulations allow for student-centered, inquiry-based teaching and learning. Our studies show that simulations are not only experienced as appropriate for learning individually or in small groups, but also at the whole-class level.
Here we present three representative computer architecture simulators for learning which show that there is a growing consensus for computer simulation as a teaching tool for complex dynamic processes, such as underlying computer operations.
