Prior estimates derived from the Quebec data suggested a US ACHD population of ≈850 000 in 2000.12 This population ap-pears to be growing at a rate of ≈40 000 to 50 000 new ACHD patients per year. Thus, the figure of 1.4 million adults with CHD in 2010 should have been expected.

Prevalence. • The 2017, the all-age prevalence of CCDs in the United States was estimated at 466,566 individuals, with 279 320 (60%) of these <20 years of age. Mortality related to congenital cardiovascular defects in 2019 was 2,890 for all ages.
Prevalence. The 32nd Bethesda Conference estimated that the total number of adults living with congenital cardiovascular defects in the United States in 2000 was 800 000. In the United States, 1 in 150 adults is expected to have some form of congenital heart disease, including mild defects such as bicuspid aortic valve and more severe disease.
