A coupon-eligible converter box (CECB) was a digital television adapter that met eligibility specifications for subsidy "coupons" from the United States government.
SUMMARY: The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) proposes to implement and administer a program to provide $40 coupons to consumers for use towards the purchase of digital-to-analog converter boxes. Congress mandated the coupon program in Title III of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.
3 Οκτ 2008 · The official name for these devices is Coupon Eligible Converter Box (CECB). Please note all CECB coupons are now expired and no longer accepted by retailers selling CECB's, although a limited selection of the boxes themselves are still available at retail, online and brick & mortar.
23 Απρ 2009 · One thing to note you will not automatically receive replacement coupons for expired ones. You will have to re-apply at the dtv website. Here is the email I received.
There was a government program that would provide TV owners with a TV converter box free, but that program ended in 2009. You can still purchase a TV converter box, and you may be able to find an inexpensive used converter box as people upgrade their old televisions.
25 Μαρ 2009 · The DTV converter box coupon program is back on track now that the NTIA, the federal agency running the program, is now accepting re-issue requests from households with coupons that have expired.
25 Νοε 2008 · Thus far, the federal government has mailed nearly 32 million, $40 coupons for the digital-to-analog converter boxes necessary to keep old TV sets working without cable or satellite. Of that 32 million, nearly a third have expired; 13.5 million have been redeemed, and the rest are floating around or sitting at the bottom of a drawer.
