19 Μαΐ 2022 · Although many folks come to this park to fish, enjoy the lake, or watch the migratory waterfowl…my excitement centers around Minnesota’s State Record Cottonwood Tree. Both times we’ve camped here, we ventured to see it, capture it on camera, and (at least I…) hug it.
Genus: Populus. Species: P. deltoides. Hardiness Zone: 2 to 9. Height: 80 to 100 ft. Width: 35 to 60 ft. Common characteristics: The eastern cottonwood can be seen throughout Minnesota's landscapes in the urban environment as well as natural areas.
29 Σεπ 2023 · One of the largest North American hardwood trees, eastern cottonwood can grow up to 65-100 feet tall with a trunk up to 9 feet in diameter. The bark is silvery-white, smooth or lightly fissured when young, becoming dark gray and deeply fissured on old trees.

7 Ιουλ 2018 · From the lookout, cross the road to see Minnesota’s largest cottonwood tree. There’s a little sign indicating where the path is. I’m not exactly sure how they verify that this is the largest cottonwood tree in Minnesota.
