The purpose of this document is to discuss the requirements for planning and performing an incidental lift using an overhead crane and commonly available rigging components, such as slings, shackles, eye bolts, and turnbuckles.
Rigging is work involving the use of mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure a load including plant, equipment or members of a building or structure and to ensure the stability of those members and the setting-up and dismantling of cranes and hoists. There are four certificate levels involved in rigging:
