Creeping Thyme are pretty little mat or carpet forming plants that are idea for use as a groundcover or to fill gaps between stepping stones and pavers. They are also a nice underplanting for rose bushes and small trees such as Japanese maples and serve as a good soil cover in container gardens.
This fragrant, creeping plant has tiny, dark green leaves and in June, produces heads of lavender to purple flowers. Rarely gets more than 2″ tall. Excellent for use between flagstones in a pathway. Red Creeping Thyme forms a a low and dense carpet of tiny, shiny dark green leaves that become smothered in brilliant crimson-lavender flowers in summer. The 2 to 3 inch high foliage is highly aromatic when crushed. Excellent as a groundcover, between stepping stones and around boulders.
