This report summarizes the latest data on education in the United States—spanning from early childhood to postsecondary and beyond—and covers topics such as enrollment, student achievement, teacher turnover, education fnances, and international comparisons.
In the wake of the pandemic and the other upheavals, FutureEd asked a number of leading education thinkers, activists, and entrepreneurs to take stock of the education landscape and propose steps that would help policymakers continue the climb toward a stronger, more equitable education system.
Current education reforms threaten not only teaching and learning but also the future of public schools and relatedly the whole society (Teacher evaluation by students, parents, school principals etc.).
On behalf of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), I am pleased to present the 2022 edition of the Condition of Education. The Condition is an annual report mandated by the U.S. Congress that summarizes the latest data on education in the United States.
Using the most recent data available (at the time this report was written) from NCES and other sources, the report contains key indicators on the condition of education in the United States at all levels, from prekindergarten through postsecondary, as well as labor force outcomes and international comparisons.
A transformational vision for education in the US. WHO WE ARE AND WHY WE CAME TOGETHER. We are a group of educational practitioners, scholars, business people, parents, and advocates with an extraordinarily diverse set of back-grounds, positions, and perspectives.
KEY FINDINGS. The public and school parents are more likely to be pessimistic about the direction of K–12 education in the country. However, at least among the general public, trends have been moving in a more positive direction in recent years.
