30 Οκτ 2020 · Yelp requires review text and about 26% of reviews contain between 501 and 1,000 characters. FTC Economist Devesh Raval found that businesses with reviews filtered by Yelp, as well as the BBB’s review algorithm, had noticeably higher average star ratings on Google, Facebook, and HomeAdvisor.
The vast majority of reviews are positive — more than half of all Yelp reviews are five stars (51%)*, with about 76% of all reviews over three stars*. Fake reviews and deceptive behavior are common across the web, which is why we’ve prioritized combating fraudulent conduct since 2005.
