This quest is often referred to as the Larzuk Socket quest. Each character can use this feature only three times, for each difficulty.

7 Ιουλ 2021 · To add sockets to any superior items, you must use the reward from the Siege of Harrogath quest (also known as the Larzuk quest). When using the socketing recipe it rolls a number between 1 and 6 and the item rolls with that number of sockets.
This form of Gambling is much more common throughout Diablo 2 since everyone uses a Runeword or two and it isn't always possible to find the item you want with the amount of Sockets you want. There is an additional use for the Helm, Armor and Shield recipes on this page which is called ebugging a piece of armor.
