Each resource has three sections: Section 1: Covers the basics of healthy eating and provides insights into typical carbohydrate sources.

As part of learning to count carbohydrates you will be given your own individual insulin to carbohydrate ratio. We will show you how to use this to work out how much insulin you need to give for the amount of carbohydrate you eat. Insulin to carbohydrate ratios vary from person to person.
Carb counting helps people with diabetes plan their meals and snacks. Some people with diabetes count carb choices and others count grams of carb. This guide uses grams of carb in counting carbs because it is more precise.
Carbohydrate counting is an important step in supporting you to manage your diabetes by keeping track of the amount of carbohydrates you eat and drink, which allows you to better adjust your insulin dosage and carb intake to manage your blood glucose levels more efectively.
