  2. Based on two sets of reference values, Daily Reference Values and Reference Daily Intakes, which provide nutrients on labels that compare a food's nutrient content to recommended intakes of those nutrients to help consumers compare nutritional values of food products (FDA, 2009).

  3. Nutrient Reference Values (NRVs) are set for vitamins and minerals for the purpose of food labelling based on food legislation. NRVs used to be known as Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA), and although the name has changed, the values have stayed the same.

  4. The Daily Values (DVs) should be based on a population-weighted reference value. As noted above, a single reference value is most appropriate for the Nutrition Facts box, but this value must be designed to be meaningful for a base population that is 4 years of age and older.

  5. The Daily Values are reference amounts (expressed in grams, milligrams, or micrograms) of nutrients to consume or not to exceed each day.

  6. 1 Δεκ 2013 · Dietary Reference Values (DRVs) are important for supporting public health, developing labelling laws and identifying populations at risk of over- or under-consumption. However, the process of developing them is complex, and they should not be viewed as recommendations or goals for individuals.

  7. Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) comprise a set of at least four nutrient-based reference values, each of which has special uses. The development of DRIs expands on the periodic reports called Recommended Dietary Allowances, which have been published since 1941 by the National Academy of Sciences.
