Yes, the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs’ Real Estate Commission is required by law to investigate any complaints against real estate agents within 30 days. If the investigation finds evidence of misconduct, the commission must take disciplinary action within 90 days.
If you believe that a REALTOR® has violated one or more Articles of the Code of Ethics, you can file an ethics complaint alleging a violation (s) through the local association of REALTORS® where the REALTOR® holds membership, or participates in a REALTOR® association-owned/operated MLS.

1 Ιαν 2024 · Any complaint alleging a violation of the Code of Ethics by a Board Member or by any other person subject to the disciplinary authority of the Board, will be scheduled for review by the Grievance Committee (or by a panel thereof) at the next regular meeting.
1 Ιαν 2024 · If the Grievance Committee deletes an Article or Articles from an ethics complaint, the complainant may also appeal to the Board of Directors using Form #E-22, Appeal of Grievance Committee (or Hearing Panel) Dismissal of Ethics Complaint.
Follow the instructions below to file an appeal: To file conventionally (paper copies): Complete the Real Property Assessments Appeal Form. Use your “Notice of Proposed Assessment” and your “Notice of First-Level Appeal Decision” for reference. Be sure to indicate the Square and Lot on the appeal form AND on ALL supporting documentation.
