Define the machining process for the various workpiece geometries using the appropriate strategies. First of all, roughing strategies are applied, e.g. roughing in the Z plane or equidis-tant from the surface geometry. CAM systems offer various options from 2 1/2-axis to 5-axis machining.

Parts to be machined is fastened to the machine table. This table moves in the XY-Plane. As the operator faces the machine, the X-Axis moves the table left-right. To define roll, pitch, and yaw in linear systems, we first need to establish the three primary axes: X, Y, and Z. The two axes of the horizontal plane are typically defined as X and Y, with the X axis being in the direction of motion. The Y axis is orthogonal (perpendicular) to the direction of motion and is also in the horizontal plane.
