15 Φεβ 2023 · Whole health is the extent to which an individual or group can realize goals and satisfy needs to change or cope with the environment (IOM, 2009). Second, the philosophy of person-, family-, and community-centered-ness is essential to define what the “whole state of well-being” means.
27 Ιουλ 2023 · ‘Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity’ (World Health Organisation [WHO], 1948: 100). In this paper, I argue that this famous WHO definition of health is fully adequate.
Communities embarking on health improvement initiatives should consider carefully their definition of health and ground their work in an evidence-based conceptual model of the determinants of health. Three arguments supporting such action are discussed below.
