20 Φεβ 2018 · A sound is a marine geographic formation, which is located along coastlines around the world. It is characterized as an inlet of seawater that diverts from the main ocean and may take one of two forms.
What Makes Sound. For a sound to be made and heard, three things need to happen. First, an object vibrates. A vibrating object makes tiny, very fast back-and-forth movements. For example, when a musician strums guitar strings, the strings vibrate. The vibration moves the surrounding air and produces waves of sound.
In geography a sound is a large sea or ocean inlet larger than a bay, deeper than a bight, wider than a fjord, or it may identify a narrow sea or ocean channel between two bodies of land (see also strait). There is little consistency in the use of 'sound' in English-speaking cartography.
In geography, a sound is a smaller body of water usually connected to a sea or an ocean. A sound may be an inlet that is deeper than a bight and wider than a fjord ; or a narrow sea channel or an ocean channel between two land masses, such as a strait ; or also a lagoon between a barrier island and the mainland.
The answer, of course, depends on how sound is defined. If it is thought of as the waves that are carried by the air, the answer is yes—wherever there are sound waves there is sound. However, if sound is defined subjectively, as a sensation in the ear, for example, the answer must be no.
