The monograph describes general principles of worm gear systems and methods of creation of dynamic model of worm reducer or of an entire drive. It indicates possibilities of reduction of dynamic load of a gear in the mode of frequent start-ups and halts of the drive.
15 Αυγ 2018 · Operating principle. A special design of the gear wheel is the so-called worm. In this case, the tooth winds around the worm shaft like the thread of a screw. The mating gear to the worm is the worm gear. Such a gearbox, consisting of worm and worm wheel, is generally referred to as a worm drive. Animation: Worm drive.
Worm gears are used to transmit motion between shafts at right angles that do not lie in a common plane. They are also used occasionally to connect shafts at other angles. Worm gears have line tooth contact and are used for power transmission, but the higher the ratio the lower the efficiency.
A worm is a gear that resembles a screw. It is a species of helical gear, but its helix angle is usually somewhat large (i.e., somewhat close to 90 degrees) and its body is usually fairly long in the axial direction; and these attributes give it its screw-like qualities.
The arrangement of gears seen below, is called a worm and worm wheel. The worm has one helical tooth that looks like a screw thread. The worm wheel is a gear wheel with helical teeth, cut at an angle matching the worm.
17 Δεκ 2021 · This paper presents the fundamentals of the design and applications of new worm gear drive solutions, which enable the minimisation of backlash and are characterised by higher kinematic accuracy. Different types of worm surfaces are briefly outlined.
1 Ιαν 2011 · The theory of gearing appeared as an independent science in the nineteenth century due to fundamental works of T. Olivier (1842), who presented it as a section of descriptive geometry, and H.I. Gochman (1886), who generalized and developed the theory of gearing by methods of mathematical analysis.
