For those of you who use monitor arms, do you clamp them to the edge of your desk or do you attach it through a grommet hole? I've never used a monitor arm before and am thinking of getting one.

I have a bamboo desktop on my Uplift desk and it gets scratched/dented extremely easily. Dropping something hard on it, like an HDMI cable, from basically any height results in an dent. So I’m assuming my monitor arm clamp will do a number on it. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
The VIVO mount arms come with the bracket for edge or grommet mount. I’ve purchased two different mounts from them, they are nice and easy to put together. For the grommet mount, you don’t need a full size desk grommet hole either.
7 Μαΐ 2017 · I want to prevent a computer monitor from falling, if the desk's legs are kicked or anything similar. The desk is relatively light. I thought of simply drilling a hole through the base of the monitor and the desk and securing it that way.
When I set them side by side, the edges don't quite sit perpindicular to one another. This is most likely due to slight structural differences in the stands that occurred as they cooled after being released from their casts.
