The albacore is a powerful, hard-hitting predator that forms mixed schools with skipjack tuna, yellowfin tuna, and bluefin tuna, sometimes around floating objects like sargassum weeds. Schools of albacore are highly migratory within bodies of water and segregated by maturity, with older fish tending to form more compact groups.

Menurut Saanin (1968), Ikan tuna termasuk dalam keluarga scombroidae, tubuhnya berbentuk cerutu, memiliki dua sirip punggung, memiliki jari-jari sirip tambahan (finlet) di belakang sirip punggung dan sirip dubur.
Short description. Biology. An oceanic species occurring above and below the thermoclines. Pelagic in open water , but rarely seen near reefs (Ref. 48637). They school primarily by size, either in monospecific or multi-species groups. Larger fish frequently school with porpoises, also associated with floating debris and other objects.
